Miami Cook Field

Oxford, OH

Sportworks provided civil engineering and surveying for the renovations to the University’s Cook Field. Many Intramural Sports and Student Organizations frequently use Cook Field throughout the year, from Greek Week to carnivals and more.

Mixed Use

Higher Education

The original grass field was used heavily and therefore difficult to maintain with no irrigation in dry weather and no drainage tile to handle standing water in wet weather. The University turned to installing synthetic turf on the north half of the field, with new drainage under the entire field, irrigation and new turf system on the south half of the field. The project also includes new backstops for softball, a new support facility with restrooms and storage, new parking configurations and vehicular ingress/egress. Pedestrian and bike connectivity from the field to the rest of the campus was also addressed. Cook Field is one of Miami’s first projects to take advantage of the Miami University Storm Water Master Plan (also designed by Sportworks) that included the construction of a new pond for detention and irrigation.
